In
Loving Memory of our Mother Willie Ruth Maxine Brown September 26,1934 – April
29,2016 Strength and Dignity are her clothing and she laughs at the time to
come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her
tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread
of idleness. Her children rise up and called her blessed; Her husband also, and
he praises her. “Many women have done excellently, but you surpassed them all.”
--Proverbs 31: 25-30 Let me tell you about our Mother On September 26,1934, Our
gift from God was born Willie Ruth Maxine Howell in Palatka, Florida to her
Parents, the Late Isaac Sanford Howell and the late Ruth Robinson. She was the
only child born of this Union. A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold---Proverbs 22:1 In her early
years, she moved from Florida north to Detroit, Michigan where she attended
school in particular Eastern High School. It was in Detroit where she would
later meet her husband, the late Homer Brown, to whom she wed on June 25, 1956.
She remained a devoted wife until his death, June 6, 1979 and she never
remarried. It was at that time she was charged to care for their four young
children, three boys and one girl 17,13,10, and 8. Her faith in God never
wavered. She raised all four with love instilling in them the importance of
family values. Because of her giving heart non judgmental attitude, zany wit
and infectious spirit of love she often drew many of the neighborhood children
as well as relatives who came to her for advice and just good old conversation.
She was affectionately called by many “Ma Brown!” We often admired how she
could strike up a conversation with a total stranger. By the end of the moment,
they wanted to know who she was because she made them feel…Good! She was truly
a Blessing to us All….We Thank God for Her…. This little light of mine, I’m
GOING TO LET IT SHINE!!!!!!! In 1997, Mrs. Brown left the city of Detroit for a
warmer climate in Riverside, California to reunite with two of her Sons at the
request of her youngest Son Shawn. Her other two children would join her later.
It was there that she would live in comfort and continue to be surrounded by
people who loved her for her kind spirit. For the last four years she was here
on Earth, she lived in a retirement community where she was adored by all of
her neighbors. At the functions in the clubhouse on Karaoke day she would be
the only one who would take the mike and lovingly sing to all her neighbors
drawing admiration and applause for her “Spunky Spirit!” You are
PRECIOUS---Isaiah 43:4 You are ONE OF A KIND-----Psalm 39:14 Our Mothers health
took a sudden turn much to the surprise and shock to all of us when we learned
that she had Cancer and it was in its fourth stage in December 2015. We admired
her strength because she didn’t give up the fight. She fought a courageous
battle to her last breath. When she was called home, she was in the presence of
her children. We were blessed to be able to share with her that we would all be
ok and we applauded her for a job well done…..She is survived by her Sons,
Homer Jr., Darryl and Shawn. Her Daughter Regenia and Daughter in law, Jackie.
Thirteen Grand Children of which one Sharde preceded her in death, Brandon,
Jarrel, Darryl Jr, Darius, Brian, Rian, Christopher, Darian, Ashley, Tequila,
Bria and Kendall. Three Step Grand Children, Damien, D’mya and Dae. One Great
Grand Child, Harmony. By marriage a host of Nieces and Nephews as well as a
Half Brother James……
