Janet Amelia Rodda
February
26, 1920 – August 13, 2016
Janet
Amelia Rodda of Hemet, Ca, went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2016 at
the age of 96. She was born in the town of Stambaugh, in the Upper Peninsula of
Michigan to Swedish immigrants, the late John and Mollie Erickson. Janet was
the youngest, and last surviving of seven children, and was born six months
after her father had passed away. While raising a large family alone, on the
farm, with little or no money, our grandmother instilled the love for God to
her children, continuing a legacy of believers in our family that continues to
this day. Janet met and married Edward Rodda of Iron River, Michigan in June of
1937. He passed away in Hemet, Ca in March of 2000. Her biggest accomplishment
was raising four lively, headstrong children. Janet was a pastor’s wife, taught
women’s Bible studies, was a writer of many published articles, and author of
two books. She also received her realtor license and helped put people in many
homes in the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley. She was tenacious. Janet is survived by
her children Susan (Don) Hoffman (Tigard, OR); Nancy (Joe) Dotson (Hemet, CA);
Hope (Bertram) Wentzek (Newport, OR); Brent (Lura) Rodda, Hemet, CA; 10
grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. All four children took piano lessons,
(under their mother’s watchful eye) and served in the music ministry in their
father’s churches, the last being First Baptist Church, Hemet, now known as
Cornerstone Church. Each of the children came to know the Lord Jesus as their
personal savior, and because of this, will someday see their dad and mom in
Heaven A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17th
in the Fellowship Hall of Cornerstone Church, 26089 Girard St., Hemet, CA.
Family members request that mourners consider giving to the Mission Fund at
Cornerstone Church in lieu of flowers.
