Tener Knight
Instant joy
was shared on March 07,1939 in a small town in Mississippi, when two beautiful
twin baby girls were born to Napoleon and Katie Mae (Harrison) Hinton. One of
the Loving, Kind and Precious, Humanitarians was named Tener and she was the
third child born to this union.
Early in
life, Tener devoted her life to Christ. She joined and was baptized at Sweet
Pilgrim Baptist Church in Richton, Mississippi. She attended Richton Colored
High School where she graduated in 1958. She studied at Tuskegee College then
to Jackson State. In 1960 she went to get a job with Blue Cross Insurance in
New York City.
On August
11,1962 she united in holy matrimony with Hershell Knight and moved to Los
Angeles, California in 1963. To this union 1 daughter was born, Natalie Serener
Knight on January 27, 1966. On June 6, 1966, they moved to La Puente,
California and she became a member of St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church
under Pastor E. W. McCall, Sr. in 1970.
Tener lived
a rich full life, was a genuine person, one who added sweetness, sunshine, joy
and brightened the room with her smile and the sound of her laugh was
infectious. She helped all the lives she touched. On September 29, 2016 at
11:45 a.m. God called her home to a peaceful rest. “Let not your heart be
troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many
mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for
you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you
unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know,

CONSOLATION
There is never a day so
dreary
But God can make it
Bright,
And unto the soul that
trust Him,
He givieth songs in the
night.
There is never a path
so hidden,
If we seek for the
Spirit’s guidance
And patiently wait and
pray.
There is never a cross
so heavy,
But the nail-scarred
hands are there
Outstretched in tender
compassion
The burden to help us
bear.
There is never a heart
so broken,
But the loving Lord can
heal.
The heart that was
pierced on Calvary
Doth still for his
loved ones feel.
There is never a life
so darkened,
So hopeless and
unblessed,
But may be filled with
the light of God
And enter His promised
rest.
There is never a care or
loss,
But that we may bring
to Jesus
And leave at the foot
of the cross.
