Hugh Francis Bogan 

November 15, 1926 – September 21, 2016 

Hugh F. Bogan began his life in Fall River, Massachusetts with brothers Daniel Bogan, Paul Bogan (previously deceased) and sister Mary Bogan Pomfret. He is survived by his five children. 

Leaving Massachusetts at the young age of 18 he joined the Army, later transferring to the Air Corps. Hugh served in World War II in the European theater earning a Bronze Star. Throughout his life, Hugh was never far away from his treasured pin-speckled WWII hat and proud of his service. One of his favorite memories was returning to the United States of America at the end of the war on the Queen Mary sleeping with other soldiers in the ship’s swimming pool.

In his middle years Hugh headed west, spending time in Reno, Las Vegas and finally Southern California where he met and married Joan M. Kelley. Hugh and Joan spent 25 years together until her passing in 2014. 

He fulfilled his dreams of becoming an actor with roles in many productions over the years, including roles in the television series the Bold and the Beautiful and the movie Hook. Hugh also enjoyed sharing stories about spending time with such Hollywood legends as Charlton Heston and Humphrey Bogart who called him Bogey Two! He was active in community theatre throughout Southern California playing a variety of roles. His favorite plays being On Golden Pond, Lo and Behold and The Odd Couple. He was a member of the Screen Actors’ Guild. Hugh was also a member of the Elk’s for 51 years. 

His final years were spent in Rancho Cucamonga supported by his daughterin-law and family, Michael & Kathy Huffstatler of Rancho Cucamonga and their son Kyle. Other family members include Paul Svendsen of Los Angeles, Bob & Jill Svendsen of San Diego and their sons Michael and Kyle. 

A memorial service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on October 24, 2016 at 2:15pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans. WWW.DAV.ORG/donate
