James Daniel Madia

August 5, 1944 - March 7, 2017

James Daniel “Jim” Madia lost his battle with cancer in Riverside, California on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.  He died peacefully at his home with his wife Trish and daughter Laura by his side.

Jim is survived by his wife Trish, sons James, John and Donovan, daughters Deborah Dreany, Laura and Gillian Madia and Ashley Smith, grandchildren Jennifer, Stephanie, Nicholas, Gabriella, Joseph, Leah, Matthew, Giovanni, Nico, Maya and Quentin, and great grandson Dylan.  He is predeceased by his parents, Rosario and Laura, sisters Mary and Helen, brothers Frank, Vincent and Don, and his son Vincent Patrick. 

Jim was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 5, 1944. He spent the past 25 years of his life in service to many in need of psychological counseling.  Those who have received counseling from Jim describe him as “counselor, confidant, advisor and friend”. He had a life-long interest in the rights of those suffering from mental illness in all its forms.  Jim was passionate about family, art, music, and philosophy.

Jim’s family will host a celebration of his life on Saturday, March 11, 2017 between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. at the Marriott Downtown Riverside in Salon A. This informal event is open to friends and family wishing to drop in at any time during the 3-hour celebration.

Donations can be made to the Treatment Advocacy Center in Arlington, Virginia. They provide advocacy services for people suffering with mental illness. A fund has been established in the name of James Daniel Madia:
