of Encino, Annette Chambers of Sacramento and James Stevenson of Lake View
Terrace and many loving nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives lovingly

Guye was born in Newellton Louisiana in
1931.
Guye Accepted Christ at 8
years old; he attended St. Marks Baptist Church, Vicksburg MS. He remained until
passing a faithful solider for Christ as a Dedicated Member of United in Christ
Baptist Church in Apple Valley CA under Pastor Patrick D. Foy.
Guye graduated
from Bowman High School High in Vicksburg Mississippi in 1949.
After graduating from High
School Guye Served in the U.S. Army and fought on the front lines in the Korean
War from 1950-1953 as a 1st class sergeant, earning 3 Bronze Stars,
The United Nations Peace Medal, The Korean Service Medal, and The National
Defense Medal of Honor.
After his military service in 1953 he moved to Los
Angeles, California where he worked for Los Angeles Department of Water and
Power. He later married Juanita Wilson and moved his family to Sacramento,
California in 1968.
He later went on to earn a Degree in Business
Administration from St. Stephens Bible College in 1978. He was a driven entrepreneur
owning such businesses as a clothing store, fish market, restaurant, record
store, beauty shop, beauty supply company, and real estate firm and mortgage
brokerage. Guye enjoyed sports; he was very involved in the governance of his children’s
Little League and Pop Warner programs serving both as League President and
Board Member. Guye had an insatiable love for The Los Angeles Lakers. If Kobe
was playing-“ please don't bother me”. Guye also enjoyed attending church and
advocating for the youth of his community.
He was certainly the leader of his immediate and
extended family as he led the annual Family BBQ’s and Gatherings every Memorial
Day and Fourth of July. He took extreme pride in being the proverbial Patriarch
of a family in which be brought from desolate Newellton Louisiana to Los
Angeles California with the hopes of establishing new frontiers and brighter
opportunities. After a successful career
and life in Sacramento, Guye retired in Apple Valley, Ca.
In 2012 Guye was honored by Congressman Buck McKeon
with A United Stated Flag that had been flown over the United States Capital in
commemoration of his service and community
involvement.
