Margaret Elsie (Eckert) Koeppel, died on January 28, 2018, just 6-months short of her much anticipated 100th birthday.  She was born in the Bronx section of New York City on July 15, 1918, as the only child of Margaret D. (Kerwin) Eckert (1899-1985) and Alexander F. Eckert (1896-1954).  In 1940, she married Henry M. Koeppel (1914-1997) and lived in Albany, NY.   In the late 1940s, they moved to Los Angeles, CA, where they raised a family of three:  Margaret D. (Koeppel) Stark (1941-2017), of Murrieta, CA; H. Michael Koeppel, of The Villages, FL; and Virginia A. (Koeppel) Clute, of Clayton, N.C.  She worked for the California Department of Unemployment as a claim arbiter for 14 years.  Margaret was devoted to her husband and together they enjoyed an active retirement at the Lawrence Welk Champagne Village, in Escondido, CA.  Golfing, traveling, playing bridge, volunteering, dancing, and socializing filled their retirement years.  Margaret was fiercely independent and enjoyed creative arts, including, sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, doll- and bear-making, cooking, and wood craft painting.  Family was the center of her life; and she leaves seven grand-children: Marie, Joseph, Karen, Sarah, David, William, Jenipher, Michael, and Patrick; 12 great-grandchildren: Genevieve, Katherine, Joshua, Noelle, Haley, Dakota, Diane, David, Gloria, Victoria, Daniel, and Riley; and one great-great-grandchild: Candice.  She will be greatly missed by family and friends.  Her Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 10:30 AM at St. Mark’s Mission Church
