April 5, 1938 - May 13, 2018
Barbara Ellen Colgrove (aka Bobbie C) - Bobbie, Mom,
Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt...she was known by many names but all knew
her as fun-loving, happy, with a zest for life rare these days. She
touched many in pursuing her auto racing passions. If it had 4 wheels and
went fast, she loved it, and the people involved with it. She seemed to
develop this passion coming to So Cal from the north side of Chicago at age
8. While never leaving So Cal permanently, she went around the country in
pursuit of the best race she could find. She had great stories to tell
about all of her pursuits, and the grandkids and great grandkids heard many of
them.
She will be missed by many, as folks that met her, rarely
forgot her. She was especially proud of her work with AARWBA (American
Auto Racing Writers & Broadcasters Association) as this provided her a
great avenue to continue chasing her passion as she became a key photographer
for this group. While the cancer that finally caught up with her, slowed her
down towards the end, she spent time chasing her passion in other ways
(spectating and donating) in an effort to stay close to the sport she loved.
She also spent much more time of late with her family and
always wanted to attend holiday events, birthday parties, graduations, and
other family events. Those who knew her best will miss her most, but will carry
her memory in our hearts.
She is survived by her Stepmother, her Sister, her nephew
and niece, her Son, her Daughter, 5 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren
(plus one more on the way). She asked that no service be conducted
on her behalf, but that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in her
name for those who wish to honor her memory.
