Terry Wayne Kester passed away at his home in Riverside,
California on July 23, 2018. He was 71. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on June
18, 1947 to parents Ernest Kester and Lucille Wheeler Kester and spent his
youth in the Goddard area.
On September 15, 1972, he married Deborah J. Arnold, in
DeSoto, Kansas. Together they had four children and settled in Baldwin City,
Kansas, until 1993 when they relocated to Riverside, California. Terry spent
his entire career in the crane business, working his way up and always eager to
stay ahead of changes in the industry. He was well-known in the field for his
knowledge and his willingness to share this expertise to support and educate
his colleagues. He travelled the entire country and around the world, building
lasting professional connections wherever his guidance was needed.
Outside of work, Terry was a talented musician. He could
play guitar and belt out country music with the best and loved to be on stage.
From family jam sessions, to the Union Mill Opry in Edgerton, Missouri or the
Maple Leaf Festival in Baldwin City, his talents and personality again gained
him respect and recognition.
Terry was an amazing and supportive husband, father and
grandfather and will be sorely missed by all he left behind. His wife Deborah,
daughters Andrea Rea (Andrew) and Angela McDonal (Weston), son Kenneth Kester
(Handan), brothers Phillip and Pete Kester and grandchildren Dalton, Alexander,
Connor, Griffin, Lina, Delilah, Nora and Isabella.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest
daughter Amanda Dick, sisters Carolyn Gile, Ernestine Darbyshire and Laurel
Kester, brother George Kester and his grandson Dylan Strickell.
