"Gwennie" Jackson
February 3, 1949 - August 22, 2018
Gwendolyn Anita "Gwennie" Jackson, 69, of Summit,
Mississippi, passed away, surrounded by family, August 22nd at 6:36 am in
Riverside, California.
She was born February 3, 1949, daughter of Orlando
"Bub" and Barbara Young. She married Oliver L. Jackson on June 8,
1978 and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2014.
Gwennie was born and raised in Centralia, Illinois where she
helped her mother raise 9 younger brothers and sisters. She graduated from
Centralia High School and attended Centralia Junior College. Gwennie worked at
Big John’s in Centralia until she and her husband moved to California in
1979. She worked in management at FEDCO in California for 20 years. In
2003, after her husband’s retirement, Gwennie and her family moved to Summit,
where she started working for the District Attorney’s office in Magnolia for 15
years, before retiring in March 2018.
Gwennie was passionate about her baking of cookies, cakes,
pies and rolls. She would often bake her highly requested cookies and mail them
to family and friends across the states. She had a big heart and was
great at making people feel special by mailing greeting cards for all occasions
to everyone she knew. Family, friends, and co-workers were guaranteed a
card on their birthday. Her nurturing ways were not limited to family, but also
friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and
brother Dwight "Buzzie" Young.
Gwennie is survived by her daughter Kamilah Jackson of
Riverside, CA, son Adrian Jackson and daughter-in-law, LaTasha, of Dallas, TX;
Grandchildren Kyheir "Pooh Bear" Daniels, Xavier Harvey, Kaylee
Jones, Cameron Jackson, and Christopher Jackson; special son/nephew Bryan Young
and fiancée Christa of Glen Carbon, IL; four sisters, Terri Young, Janet Young,
Valarie Mack and Cheryl Young, of Centralia, IL; four brothers, Clifford Young
of San Jose, CA, Richard Young and sister-in-law, Nadine, of Corona, CA, Donald
Young of Centralia, IL and David Young and sister-in-law, Lorine of Garland,
TX; Aunts, Vera Lytle of Centralia, IL and Lucille Morris and Joyce Sampson, of
Frederick, VA, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Family, friends and those of the lives she touched are
invited to her Life Celebration on Sunday, September 9 at 2:00 P.M. at
2335 Carlene Street, Corona, CA 92882.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kamilah and
Adrian Jackson at 5200
Chicago Ave, #K7, Riverside, CA 92507.
A memorial service will be held in Centralia at a later
date.
