Mildred V. Bruno
June 2, 1923 – August 10, 2018
Mildred V. Bruno, 95 died at home in Sun City Ca. with her
two daughters by her side.
Born June 2, 1923 in Loves Park, Illinois. to
Fredrick and Hulda King.
Mom led an active life since childhood. Ice skating, roller
skating and bike riding. Her and her siblings and friends could play outside
until the 10:00 p.m. train whistle blew. Dancing won her a jitterbug
contest.
Mom always had a quick wit and sense of humor. She was
always making people laugh.
At 14 yrs old, she loved to help customers at her father's
root beer and hamburger stand.
Mom was one of 7 women hired for the USPO in Ventura Ca,
then worked for Point Mugu and Hueneme Naval bases. She continued to the US
Forest Service in Ojai, Ca and Idyllwild, Ca.
Last, she worked for her son Rick and his computer store in
Ventura, Ca. He owned the store but she was still "the boss", or mom.
Even the customers called her mom.
Mom loved traveling, where we almost always took
"the scenic route", and sewing. Making clothes for her
grandchildren was such a joy. But what she loved the most were family
gatherings and cooking for them.
She was a faithful witness of Jehovah and loved talking
about his Kingdom to come on Earth. Rev. 21: 3,4
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings
Marion Webster, Richard King and Donald King. Her two oldest children, Linda
Goddin and Richard( Rick) Brees. Husband Elwood Brees (1962) and
James Bruno(1981)
She is survived by her daughters Colleen Bratka of Sun City,
Ca who took excellent care of her mother for 9 1/2 yrs., grandson James
of OR. Wendy Thomas ( Dale Jr.) and granddaughter Sarah, of TN.. Ricks 2
children Rickie Ann Wooley, David Brees and Linda's 7 children and numerous
great grandchildren.
She was a wonderful loving mother and grandmother. We will
miss her deeply.
