Ardith Grover Scribner

April 2, 1929 - September 24, 2018

Art (Ardith) Scribner was born on April 2, 1929 in Chadwick Missouri, and passed away at 9:24 a.m. on 9/24/20018 at Hemet Valley Hospital in Hemet California. He was 89 years and 5 months of age. Art met his wife Verla Mae McCleary in Missouri and they moved to California in 1955.They had two children, a daughter Susan and a son Phillip. The family was complete by 1959. He worked as a truck driver for Knudsen Creamery Company for 27 years, but his real profession was Real Estate, which he entered in 1963, and soon gained his California Brokers license. He worked two jobs until 1970, when he retired from Knudsen’s to dedicate full time work to Real Estate. He became specialized in the field of Real Estate Exchange, especially working with large commercial properties and apartment housing sales. Real Estate was his passion. He always took good care of his family, an old fashioned guy who believed the family was his responsibility.  He was an amazingly generous man to his children and to other family members and organizations. But no one would ever really hear about it from him. He lost his wife Verla in 2004, and never remarried, although he met and became companions with a beautiful lady, Rosalie Moyer years after Verla’s death. They were neighbors and did everything together. Rosalie died three years ago, and he’s been alone except for his own family since that time.

Art, the second youngest of 7 children, was predeceased by all 6 of his siblings, and his parents. He is survived by his children, daughter Susan Kaitukoff and her husband Gary, and his son Phillip Scribner and Phil’s daughter Shelby Scribner. Shelby was his only grandchild and they were very close. His passing is especially difficult for her at this time.

We, his children are eternally grateful for his kindness and generosity to us. We were fortunate to be at the bedside and share these things with him. He accepted Christ as his Savior shortly before his death, and has joined his loved ones with the Savior. Because of this we have peace.

Graveside services will be at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery on Monday, October 1 at 10 AM in the morning, when he will be laid next to his wife. Don Jentes, the hospital chaplain, who my dad liked and respected, will be officiating. You are invited to attend. We will receive guests in his home with light refreshments afterwards. No gifts or flowers are necessary, but if you would like to make an honorarium, please make it to Hemet Hospital Chaplains fund.
