Jeanne Hayes-McElvin, 89, of
Palm Desert, CA, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, September 30,
2018, with family by her side. Born
October 31, 1928 in Pasadena, CA, she was the daughter of the late Edward A.
Hayes and Bessie G. Duffy. Jeanne will
be cremated, and her ashes will be scattered in the desert.
Jeanne married the late Paul
Fredrick McElvin in 1946, and they lived together for 10 years before they
divorced in Hollywood, CA. Jeanne is
survived by three children: Jacqueline
Lila of Port Edward, WI; Judie Goodspeed of Henderson, NV; and Paul Frederick
McElvin, Jr. of Indian Wells, CA. She is
also survived by six grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
She became a single mother
after a divorce; she and her three children moved to San Fernando Valley,
CA. She often worked 2 jobs to better
the family’s quality of life. She
finally realized the American dream of owning her dream home. Her focus had been on improving the quality
of life for her children.
Jeanne was always at the
center of her family with creativity, a sense of humor, culture and a
determination to achieve success. She also had a deep love of books and had an
extensive home library.
She was a loving Mother, a
fun grandmother and she kept life interesting for all. She was an intelligent and gifted woman. We
will all miss her.
