May 24, 1976 - July 18, 2019
Laura Beth Schaefer unexpectedly passed away July 18, 2019
near her childhood home in Upland. She was 43.
Laura was born May 24, 1976 in Mount Shasta, CA but within
months, moved with her family to Upland where she lived her entire life. She
graduated from Upland High School in 1994, received her Bachelor’s degree in
Economics from the University of California at Davis, and completed her
Master’s degree in Economics from Cal Poly Pomona. In 2005, she began teaching
c lasses at Saddleback College and Chaffey College.
She was the youngest of four and is survived by her parents
David and Fran Schaefer; her siblings David, Jamie (Julie), and Amy (Tami
Reineking); her nieces and nephews Tyler, Autumn, Tatum and Zane; and her last
cat Buddy. She was predeceased by her former husband Mickey Trajkovski.
Laura was outgoing and curious. She loved to research online
when time afforded, and she took pride in the rich vocabulary she began
developing, by reading the dictionary during high school age. Laura could speak
intelligently about diverse topics and had particular interest in health and
wellness. Laura had a rare, profound capacity to sympathize with the poor, and
she often gave to them generously out of her own modest funds. Laura adored her
nephews and nieces and spent countless hours with them. She was a fun
role-model, youthful, and spontaneous. She enjoyed going to the beach with her
family and playing volleyball at the Solano Gardens. Furthermore, because
Laura had no children, she showered her cats with love and attention.
Laura’s memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran
Church in Upland, on August 24 at 10:00 am, and followed by a reception.
