Maria Escalera

January 1, 1923 - February 9, 2020

Maria De Los Angeles Cordero Escalera, age 97 when she passed away on Sunday, February 

9th, 2020. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and great grandmother up to four 

generations. Born In Minitas, Nayarit on January 1st, 1923 to her parents Ines Cordero and 

Isabell Avalos and later moving to the United States in 1971 with her husband Ubaldo Escalera 

Villa as well as her nine children, Jesus (Jessie) Escalera, Roberto (Flaco) Escalera, Hector 

Escalera, Ubaldina (Gina) Escalera-Samaniego, Arturo (Tury) Escalera, Maria Gallego, Enrique 

(Kiki) Escalera, Richard (Pancho) Escalera, and Rigoberto (Rigo) Escalera. Maria lived in the 

San Jacinto Valley for 49 years where she died peacefully from natural causes in her home she 

shared with her sons Enrique and Rigo as well as Rigo's wife, Shannon Escalera and kids 

Andres, Amanda, Miranda, and Nolan Escalera. She was a very strong, inspirational, and loving

woman but she was also so much more. She was well-loved by her family and everyone around

her, always a ray of light, always happy, and had the best smile in the room. She will be greatly 

missed, but as we all know she's in a better place and is finally reunited with the love of her life
