Magdalene Brown

Mary Magdalene Carter-Brown was born May 8, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late James and Mary Gaston-Carter. She was the fifth of seven children born to that union.
Mary grew up and sang in the choir at Water’s Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of the late Superintendent L.C. Dade. Her favorite song, which she led was, “Christ Jesus Will Roll All Burdens Away.”
She attended and graduated from the
Little Rock Public School system. In 1968, she relocated to Riverside, California, and was employed by the Lilly Tulip Company for several years before being employed by the county of Riverside, from which she retired in 2010 after 25 years of service.
Mary departed this life peacefully on Friday, September 4,2020, surrounded by family members.
Prior to her failing health, she attended Refreshing Spring’s Temple C.O.G.I.C. where she served in the hospitality and usher ministries. She was also a devoted and faithful Sunday School student. She is preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Christian, three brothers, Charles, Harry, and John Carter. She leaves to cherish her memories: one younger brother, Rev. Louis Carter, of Powder Springs GA, one older sister, Helen Morehead, of Little Rock, Arkansas, one loving and devoted daughter, Jacqueline Henderson (Larry), of Jacksonville, FL, three loving and devoted sons, James Carter of Riverside, CA, Paul Brown of Akron, Ohio, and Bobby Moody of Riverside, CA.
Also to cherish her memories four loyal and devoted friends: Delores Chatman, Paula Jordan, Essie McCloud, Mary Seaborne, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
