Ophelia Ochoa Soto

March 29, 1933 - January 11, 2021

Ophelia 87 years old, was born on Wednesday March 29, 1933 to Isidro Ochoa and Maria Varges  in Los Angeles Ca. She went home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2011 after being admitted to Kaiser Hospital in Ontario, California with pneumonia and testing positive for Covid 19. She quietly and peacefully past away at 8:52 am.

Ophelia was preceded in death by her  husband Frank Stovall, father Isidro mother Maria Ochoa, daughter Rita Ochoa son Gerald Stovall,  sisters Ermelinda O.  Stafford, Hortensia Ochoa, brothers Albert and Isidro Ochoa.  We know it was a happy day at that heavenly family reunion.

Ophelia loved the Lord and trusted Him whole heartedly. Especially with her children. The 23rd psalms was very dear to her.  After our father passed away in 1969,  our mom raised her children primarily on her own. Working in factories, warehouses and as a caregiver to provide for us. She did all she could for each one of us. She understood that all her children were different and treated us according to our special wants and needs. She was always willing to listen and help us. But she wouldn't hesitate to tell us the truth and express her feelings about any situation. She had a saying for every occasion the one I hear now is "Put it in God’s  hands".

Ophelia loved to cook and knew that she was good at it.  Her favorite dishes included everything from tamales  and enchiladas to collard greens and corn bread. There was always potato salad and macaroni salad on the table with every holiday meal.  She would sit back and smile with great satisfaction on her face as she watched everyone enjoy the fruits of her labor.

She also enjoyed dressing up. She was fancy — from the bow in her long hair to the shoes on her feet and everything in between. She loved her accessories. She took pride in her appearance she dressed up even if she was only going to the grocery store. Ophelia loved life and family.

Ophelia is survived by her brother Salvador Ochoa, children James Welch, Linton Stovall, Tonoa Ledbetter, Martin Stovall and Don Stovall, nephew Robert Ochoa Erro, 18 grand children, 19 great grand children, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family friends.

Due to the uncertain times we find ourselves in, we will not be having a formal memorial service at this time. We do plan to celebrate her life with family and friends at a future date yet to be determined. However,  we encourage all who knew and love her to celebrate her life in your own special way according to your memories of her.

Ophelia will be laid to rest at
