                                                       Jon Thomas (Jack) Bednar
                                                 March 31, 1937 - January 11, 2021


Jon was a Cleveland, Ohio native He lived a vibrant active life and enjoyed spending time with his loving wife Loree who
passed on June 10, 2018, just shy of their 60 th wedding anniversary September 20, 2018. He enjoyed his family, spending
time visiting with his grandchildren in California. Jon and Loree would go down the hill to visit their youngest son Jon
David, enjoying fine dining and shopping. Visiting their daughter’s family in Western Massachusetts. He visited their
oldest son Thomas Michael and other relatives in Houston, Texas for Thanksgiving. Jon was an avid New York Yankee’s
fan watching every game. Jon and Loree were proud, active members of the Elks Lodge in Canoga Park, he served a year
as Exalted Ruler in 1988-1989.
Jon enlisted in the Army at age 17, received his GED while serving, discharged Veteran by age 20. Met the woman of his
dreams in 1957 and were married on September 20, 1958. Nine months and two days later, they gave birth to their first
son Thomas Michael, followed by Bruce Patrick, Jon David and a daughter Judilyn Marie (Bechthold).
Upon his discharge from the Army, he began working for an Illuminating Company in Ohio. From 1961-1968, he worked
for the Cleveland Fire Department. Due to hazards of being a Fireman, he sought for a less hazardous career and found
his calling in sales. In 1969, he began working for Remington Rand Company selling calculators. His success brought on
other opportunities in working in sales in the carpet industry. From 1971-1974, he worked as a Contract Sales Manager
for Stevens-Gulisitan Carpets, in 1974 he was hired by Kilgore Carpets based in Cleveland Ohio. A few years later in 1977
his sales talents, were noticed again and was offered a sales position in Los Angeles, California at Paul Singer Floor
Coverings. Jon remained at Paul Singer excelling for the next 34 years. The company was bought out by Dupont, then
Shaw Industries where he continued to work until he retired.
Jon and Loree moved from the Los Angeles area to retire in Apple Valley, California. Jon enjoyed retirement with Loree
visiting their grandchildren, going to the Primm Valley Casino, a Hawaiian Cruise for their 50 th Anniversary, concerts,
playing golf with his buddies and the weekly bowling team.
Jon is survived by his three sons and one daughter, son in-law Curtis Bechthold, daughter in-law Danielle Bednar,
daughter in-law Janice Bednar and granddaughter in law Candace Bednar. Blessed with five grandchildren; Andrew
Bednar, Nicole Bednar, Brittany Bednar, Ryan Bechthold, Kyle Bechthold and one great grandson David Bednar. They
knew him as a fun loving and encouraging mentor.
