                                                            Jo Margaret Hallmark

September 1, 1942 - September 11, 20 21

Jo Margaret Hallmark, age 79, passed away on September 11th, 2021, in Riverside, California, after a long and well lived life. Jo enjoyed oil painting, arts and crafts, cooking, and traveling across the United States and through Europe.  She always had a kind and warm disposition toward others as was part of her southern charm and upbringing. Jo will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Jo was born on September 1st, 1942, to Joe and Helen Dockery in Savannah, Tennessee. After graduating from Harden County High School, she went on the study as a beautician in Memphis, Tennessee. One of her fondest stories of her youth was the time she went on a date to the movies and met Elvis Presley.

In 1963, she met her first husband James Patrick McAlexander in Memphis, Tennessee. Jo and Pat went on to have 2 sons, Micheal and Phillip.

Jo and her family moved steadily westward, ending up in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Pat died in 1979. After several years, Jo married her second husband, and as she said fondly many times “the great love of her life,” Richard S. Hallmark. The family

moved westward again to San Clemente, California.

When Richard became ill with cancer, and her father’s health declined, Jo moved back to Savannah, Tennessee, to care for them both for over 15 years.

Jo is predeceased by her son Phillip Patrick McAlexander and her husband Richard S. Hallmark and survived by her son Micheal Channing McAlexander, her granddaughter Lynda Gayle McAlexander, and grandson Ryan.

In accordance with her wishes, Jo’s ashes will be scattered at sea off Dana Point Harbor, California, so that she may again join Richard at a place they both loved
