 Gerald Charles Gensel

July 23, 1930 - September 16, 2021

Gerald "Bud" Charles Gensel was born on July 23, 1930, in Binghamton, New York, to Gerald Curtis Gensel and Doris Blanche Gensel (Robinson).   He passed away on September 15, 2021, surrounded by his beloved family.  Bud was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Gensel.  Bud served in the Navy as a hospital corpsman, in Long Beach, San Diego, and Corona Naval Hospitals. He met his wife, Edna, while still in the Navy at her 18th birthday party.  After they married and graduated from college, he became a teacher and a principal in the Hacienda-La Puente School District from 1956 to 1986.  In 1973 to 1974, he and Edna took a sabbatical from teaching and went to Spanish Language School for a year in Costa Rica.  After retiring, he and Edna became teachers for Wycliffe Bible Translators. They taught the children of missionaries in training who were joining Wycliffe.  They did this from 1986 to 2007 in the United States and in the South Pacific (Solomon Islands).  Bud is survived by his daughter, Linda Durand (Ray), his daughter-in-law, Robin (Jerry), and her son, Jonathan.  He is also survived by former daughter-in-law Norma Gensel and their son Christopher Gensel (Wendi) and daughter, Kennedy, granddaughter, Jeanette Stone (Steve), granddaughter, Renee Valenzuela (Andy) and their four children: Issac, Issabella, Zachary, and Hazel.  Bud also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Paul Forsee (Joyce) and many wonderful nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Bud is missed so much.  He has left a deep void in all our lives, but we are all rejoicing that he is with his heavenly family and most of all Jesus!
