Elmo Hollie Thibodeaux

July 28, 1947 - November 28, 2021

Elmo Hollie Thibodeaux Jr., 74, of San Jacinto CA, died peacefully on Sunday, November 28 at Hemet Global Medical Center.  Mr. Thibodeaux, who was a combat veteran from the Vietnam War, was a devout Roman Catholic who enjoyed endless games of chess, working as an electrician for the IBEW, engaging in political debates, and cheering on his six children and 21 grandchildren at various events.

Living his entire life in the San Jacinto valley, Mr. Thibodeaux spent his time exploring all the hidden and hard to reach places of the area.  He grew up teasing, adventuring, and getting into mischief with his sisters and cousins.  He doted on his dog, Honcho, and proudly drove his orange Bronco.  He hiked up to the ‘S’ on North Mountain and taught his children to explore and shoot at Massacre Canyon.

Mr. Thibodeaux was a consummate storyteller, happy to regale anyone willing to listen with gripping stories of combat and valor from his time as a Marine in Vietnam.  Following the war, he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, spending over 50 years as an electrician.  In his spare time, Mr. Thibodeaux never turned down an opportunity to dominate an opponent in a game of chess.

Above all, Mr. Thibodeaux was a family man who sought to encourage and support the expressed passions of his children and grandchildren as best as he could.  He is fondly remembered for coaching his sons in football, always attending their practices and games.

Mr. Thibodeaux married his wife Lisa, a widow with three young children, in 1988.  He raised her children as his own.  Together, they had three additional children.

Mr. Thibodeaux is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; his four sons, James Gray, Elmo Thibodeaux III, Aaron Thibodeaux, and Ethan Thibodeaux; two daughters, Alyssa Hichborn and Rachel McCauley; two sisters, Cherie Thibodeaux and Michelle McCann (Tim), plus numerous nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo Thibodeaux, Sr. and Lila McKibben Thibodeaux.
