Kathleen Elizabeth Raisani

August 9, 1951 - December 29, 2021

It is with great sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Kathleen (“Kathy”) Elizabeth Raisani on December 29, 2021, at the age of 70.

Born in Trenton, New Jersey on August 9, 1951 to Rosalie and James J. Minch Jr., Kathy was the only girl of five children. She may have been the second oldest but by all accounts she was lovingly coined “the boss” of the family for the rest of her life. Kathy grew up in a fun-filled, rambunctious home thanks to her four brothers: Jay, Tommy, Joe and Mike. She attended Cathedral High School before going on to the Helene Fuld College of Nursing in Trenton.

It was at a Christmas party in 1972 that Kathy met the love of her life, her husband of 44 years, Kamal. Her life took an unexpected and exciting turn when Kamal enlisted in the United States Air Force and they spent the next two decades stationed around the world and the American South. During this time, she earned a Masters Degree in Counseling and had her beloved two sons, Rashad and Jabbar.

It didn’t matter if it was by plane, car or cruise ship, Kathy loved to travel. She journeyed the globe, but she was always happiest at the beach -- or anywhere with a Disney property. Kathy had a passion for sewing and Alabama football. If you wanted to find her on a Saturday, chances are she was cheering on the Crimson Tide while sewing a beautiful dress or quilt for the people she loved. Her company Sew Delightful brought untold joy to its customers in Tuscaloosa, and all her friends and co-workers who attended her famous sewing retreats at her river house.

Kathy’s greatest calling in life though was helping others. A calling that inspired her to heal people as a nurse and, later in life, to look out for everyone who crossed her path. Whether it be her own children; her nieces and nephews; friends, co-workers or fellow church-goers. Anyone who needed a helping hand, a place to sleep, or even a hug, Kathy was always there.

Like her parents before her, Kathy possessed a powerful love for Jesus Christ and devoutly attended Catholic churches everywhere she lived. That faith sustained her through many difficult times and has no doubt led her back home to be with God and her family.

Kathy is survived by her husband Kamal Raisani; her sons Rashad and Jabbar Raisani; her daughters in-law Kimberly and Lucy Raisani; her grandchildren: Evelyn, Matilda and Julian Raisani; her brothers Jay Minch (Debbie), Tommy Minch (Karen), Joe Minch (Dora) and Mike Minch (Karen), and so many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whom she loved.

A funeral service will be held in Kathy’s home state of New Jersey in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to her two favorite charities: the American Heart Association and the Wounded Warrior Project.
