Larry Lawrence Lopez
August 17, 1941 - January 15, 2022
Larry Lawrence Socorro Lopez, “Poppy”, born August 17,1941 to Margaret and Florencio Lopez in Loma Linda, CA, peacefully passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father the night of January 15th, 2022. Like Jesus’ finished work on the cross, Larry finished his race of faith. Though his work in this life is finished, it is in no way done. Larry’s labor of love will continue for generations to come through the lives of those he leaves behind. He has passed the torch. Now, we must run with perseverance, our own race, and run it well. In this life, Larry was a good and faithful servant- a fisher of men. If you sat in his barber chair, you heard about Jesus. In his home, at your home, at church, and just about anywhere, he shared his faith. To anyone willing to listen, Larry was willing to share. He was always ready to give the reason for his hope. Larry’s family and friends take comfort in knowing that he lived a complete and full life. He shared over 50 wonderful years with his bride Joan Elaine and raised three boys together in Colton, CA. To know Larry was to love Larry. Those who were privileged to know him knew that he enjoyed bodybuilding, nutrition, motorcycles, cutting hair, road trips, Mexican food, the Bible, and that he enjoyed sharing these activities most with those that he loved. In his final years he enjoyed motorcycle trips to the beach, Laughlin, Nevada, and Sacramento, CA. Some of his most recent adventures included kayaking on Lake Natoma with family, hiking the Johnny Cash trail, and visiting historic California destinations such as the San Francisco Bay Bridge, Muir Woods State Park, and beautiful Lake Tahoe. Back at home, Larry enjoyed his morning walks, watching western movies, and spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, and friends. He also loved the time he spent in the salon with his clients and co-workers (for 60 years). He led home bible studies, mentored those in need, and spent time at church (followed by a good meal, of course). Larry lived a life of abundance to the very end. His was a vibrant life. He will be missed by all and yet he lives on through those who remain.
Larry is survived by his brothers Louie and Leroy Lopez, and sister Lorraine Casey. He was the proud Father to his three sons Randy Lopez, Greg Lopez, Michael Lopez and his Daughters in law April Lopez, Lynn Lopez and Felicia Lopez. He was the beloved grandfather to Selina Jordan, Nathan Jordan, Emily Lopez, Reagan Lopez, Rachel Lopez, Josiah Lopez, Samuel Lopez, Charlotte Lopez, and a 4th grandson to be born to Michael and Felicia Lopez in April, 2022. He was extra blessed with three great grandchildren:Emmarie Sky, Levi, and Eden. Many adoring nieces and nephews also remain to keep his memory alive, along with extended family and friends who loved him. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. We will miss his stories, his laughter, his hugs, his wisdom, his generous heart, and his love. We will miss his presence.
Celebration of life services will take place Friday February 18, 2022 at Centerpoint Church in Colton, CA (170 West F St.), at 11 a.m. The celebration of life service will be live streamed in order to accommodate those unable to attend. A private burial (family only) will take place following the service at Hermosa Cemetery in Colton. Thank you to all for your love and support.
