Anna Mae Tapley

May 27, 1935 - February, 26, 2022

Anna Mae Williams was born May 27, 1935 in Manila, Arkansas to John Thomas Williams and Della Buchanan. Anna spent the last 6 years living at Villa Mesa Healthcare Center until her passing on February, 26, 2022.

Anna was the eighth of nine children born into the Williams family and was sadly the last surviving sibling. When Anna was still a child, the family relocated from Arkansas to California traveling west on the iconic Route 66. After reaching California, they settled in Bakersfield as a central location to work on local and sometimes distant farms harvesting California’s abundant crops.

At the age of 17, Anna met Clyde Aubrey Tapley while the family was working in Pomona. After knowing him for 3 days, they traveled to Quartzite, Arizona and got married. Their first son, David was born the following year. 2 more sons and 3 daughters quickly followed.   As the family grew, they moved frequently. They called Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona home but always considered Bakersfield, with Anna's family, their home base. Anna was always a hard worker and frequently worked from home while raising her kids. The family lived in Ontario several different times and finally settled here permanently in 1971.

Anna was predeceased by her husband, Clyde; sons, David and Gary; daughter, Lora Ann and her grandson, Joshua. She leaves behind her son, Michael; daughters, Patricia and Debora; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
