Judy J. Massagli, age 80, passed away at home on June 21, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Judy was born on April 15, 1943 in San Luis Obispo, CA to Dr. John D. and Marian Buck.
Brother’s Dave and Doug Buck came 3 and 7 years later. They moved to Brea, CA to raise their
family. Judy grew up playing sports and was named athlete of the year her senior year at Brea
High School. She studied accounting and got a great job in downtown Los Angeles at a law firm
as a bookkeeper where she road the bus into town each day.
Judy married the love of her life Daniel Massagli on June 1, 1967 in Brea, CA. They spent the
next 52 years together raising their children at their home in Alta Loma, CA. They enjoyed
coaching soccer and softball, attending their kids and grandkid’s sporting events, camping in
Yosemite and family trips to Las Vegas.
Judy especially loved volunteering wherever she could. She was involved with the PTA, March
of Dimes, Son’s of Italy and her church where she also taught Sunday School. She helped
bring AYSO Region 65 to the Alta Loma area and spent many years as the Regional
Commissioner. She also coached all of her kids soccer teams. She often coached two teams
in one season.
Judy was beloved by her children and all of the kids she coached and mentored. She threw the
best birthday slumber parties and always had a house full of kids each summer enjoying the
pool in the backyard. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be
deeply missed by all who knew here and love her.
Her husband Daniel Massagli, their eldest daughter Donna Prescott and niece Teresa Massagli
preceded Judy in death. She is survived by her 2 brothers Dave and Doug Buck, brother and
sister-in-law Ralph and Sally Massagli and her 6 children (Darlene Deitz, Sharon Roberts, Doug
Massagli, Susan Benson, Julie Reynolds, Nancy Adams), 15 grandchildren, 7 great
grandchildren, nephews, nieces and several cousins.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Hillside Community
Church at 5354 Haven Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91737 in the Community Center.
