It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Felix Figueroa, a beloved son, brother,
husband, father, uncle, and friend. Felix valiantly fought cancer for 31⁄2 years and peacefully departed this world on September 21, 2023, at the age of 53.
Felix was born on December 21, 1969, in San Bernardino, California. His roots were then firmly planted in Ontario, California, where he spent his formative years in the early 1970s. He attended school at Del Norte Elementary, Imperial Middle School, Chaffey High School, and Chaffey College.
In 1995, he entered into a loving marriage with Jodi Hurst, and together, they raised a son,
Nickolas (24), and a daughter, Natalie (22). While Felix held many titles throughout his life, from coach to captain, his most cherished role was that of a father. He found immense joy in spending quality time with his kids, their cousins, family and friends. Whether it was working on their cars or enthusiastically supporting them at their collegiate athletic events, his love and care for them was unwavering.
Felix’s deep love for sports was evident through his consistent participation, coaching, and
support. His connections were often formed on golf courses with friends, softball fields with Team Riot, and baseball diamonds coaching the Yankees. He was an enthusiastic presence on the fields passionately supporting his daughter as she competed with Surf FC and SDSU Rugby. He nurtured deep and meaningful relationships with fellow fans through his enduring devotion to USC football, in support of his son, along with his avid backing of professional teams like the Buccaneers and Angels Baseball.
Felix dedicated his career to the California Department of Corrections, where he worked for five different institutions. Two years ago, he retired from a distinguished 28-year career in the department, where he ascended the ranks from Officer to Captain.
Felix Figueroa, “Big Fig”, “Figgy”, “FeFe”, “Gentle Giant”, “Fix-it Felix”, will be remembered
for his dedication, his love for his family, and his commitment to the community. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
May he rest in peace.
