Joseph Stanley Vrtis, Jr passed away on January 15, 2024 at home, joining his wife Betty Arlene Vrtis who passed away on January 14, 2007. He was born in Cook County, Illinois to Berneice and Joseph Vrtis, Sr on April 10, 1943. He is survived by two brothers and one sister, three of his four children, Deborah, Joseph and Nathaniel, 7 grandchildren, Kevin, Ashley, Nathanael, Arial, Richard, Hailey and Tylor. He also had 6 great-grandchildren.

Joseph was a kind, gentle and giving person, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and is missed tremendously. He also retired as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force in 1970. One of his greatest achievements was graduating from Cal Poly Pomona with a dual major in engineering in 1987 while supporting his family. He went on to be a Civil and Structural Engineer until his passing, never truly retired. While his wife was alive they were active members of the Elks and enjoyed bowling in the Elk’s league.
