Lupe Alvares Aguilar
July 29, 1943 - April 27, 2026
Lupe Aguilar was born on July 29, 1943, in Tucson, AZ to Adela Alvarez and Jesus Aguilar. She entered eternal rest on April 27, 2026, in Riverside, CA.
Lupe was, above all, a devoted and loving mother and is survived by her 8 children, Michael Palacios, Carolina Marquez-Vellanoweth, Marcos Palacios, Adelina Liptak, Robert Palacios, Cynthia Juarez, Joe Lopez, Adriana Olson and her siblings, Rosa Reyes, Ricardo Reyes and Joey Aguilar along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lupe lived a life defined by compassion, faith, and unwavering perseverance for all she did. She believed deeply in hard work and striving each day to become a better person. Resourceful and creative, she faced life’s challenges with resilience and rarely allowed obstacles to stand in her way.
Curious by nature, Lupe found fascination in the world around her, especially animals, and throughout her life she lovingly cared for many cherished pets. She had a profound love of learning and valued education immensely. It was not unusual to find her reading a dictionary or medical textbook simply for the joy of gaining knowledge. When she could no longer read herself, she found great joy in being read to by those she loved. Lupe also had a deep love for family gatherings. She treasured movie nights and hosted the best house parties with family and friends where she enjoyed music, dancing, singing and games.
Her faith guided every part of her life. Lupe believed strongly in sharing God’s love compassionately with anyone in need, without judgment or condition. She cared deeply for others and carried their burdens in prayer petitions to Jesus and then lighting candles for them. —whether family, friends, or strangers—simply because she cared. Her home became a refuge for many. She welcomed others with an open heart, always offering a warm meal, a place to stay and a sense of belonging. She often reminded people that her family was their family too. She lived those words daily through her generosity and kindness. Above all else, Lupe fiercely loved and protected her children, whom she considered the greatest blessings of her life.
To those who knew her, Lupe was truly an angel on earth. Her love, wisdom, humor, strength, and vibrant spirit touched countless lives and will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
In honor of Lupe’s lifelong devotion to prayer and keeping vigil for others, her family asks that whenever she crosses your mind, you light a candle in her memory—because if you are reading this, she most certainly lit one for you.
