Seena
was the youngest of three children of Samuel and Bessie Schechter, who migrated
to the U.S. from Poland and Russia in 1910. Seena was raised and educated in
New York City. She sang professionally at the age of 20 in the Catskill
Mountain resorts of New York before relocating to Miami, Florida. At 21 years
of age, Seena became the first telephone operator for the new office of the
Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Seena
served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1958. While in the Air Force,
she married, and as a military wife, she raised her three children, returned to
college in 1978, and proudly at the age of 47, completed her Associate of Arts
degree at American River College, Sacramento, California. Seena worked in
Sacramento for the Selective Service System from 1970-1974. Thereafter, she
worked at McClellan Air Force Base from 1975-1984. She divorced in 1983.

Seena
worked all her life as a Secretary and Administrator in the medical field. She
loved to travel, and as a military wife, she lived in Washington, Mississippi,
France, Germany, and California. She especially loved Latin music and enjoyed
singing and dancing to it. In later years, despite Parkinson’s disease and
Leukemia, Seena still remembered the lyrics to her favorite songs and would
surprise everyone with her beautiful voice whenever she sang. Seena will
forever be an inspiration and pillar of strength to her two daughters.
