Martha Kiss
January 1, 1940 – March 11, 2017
Martha Kathlene Kiss Warwick was born in Brentwood, NY to
Louis Peter Kiss of Transylvania, Hungary and Mary Clementine Kun of Magyar
Fenes, Hungary. She was the first in her family to be born in the US (her
sister being born in Tarpa, Hungary). Her father was the Health
Commissioner in Tarpa, a medic in WWI and later became a Doctor in Brentwood,
NY. Martha was never taught to speak Hungarian but at the age of 30 she
took a course at Story Brook University and became fairly fluent in Hungarian.
She studied at the NY City School of Ballet and played the flute,
piano and guitar. Martha was passionate about animals and was known for
her family of poodles in her traveling RV. She is pre-deceased by
her husband Gregory Warwick of Poughkeepsie, NY. She is survived by her
daughter Lynn Furno, grandson, Erik Bachman, and grandchildren, Madigan Ezea,
Jackson Harrison - Bachman and Dashiell Fleury - Bachman.
