David Erling Sorlie

October 28, 1947 - July 23, 2017


David Erling Sorlie, 69 of Temecula, California passed away on July 23, 2017 at home surrounded by love and family after a valiant battle with cancer.

David was born, October 28, 1947, in Vancouver, Washington to parents, Lawrence and H. Christina (Selle) Sorlie.

He grew up in Seattle, Washington, joined the Navy and served his Country honorably during the Vietnam War. After graduating the University of Washington, he taught Elementary School for thirty-two years. During that time he was also a High School Driving Instructor and worked for Ernst Hardware in Seattle before retiring in 2010 and moving with his wife to Temecula, California in 2011.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Sorlie and mother, H. Christina (Sorlie) Scott, Seattle, Washington.

Mr. Sorlie is survived by his loving wife, Madeline Morehouse of Temecula, California. Loving father to Ryan (Rachelle) Sorlie of Carencro, Louisiana, daughter, Chanda (Zachary) Schneider, of Ballard, Washington. Jeffery Morehouse, of Shoreline, Washington, Michelle (Michael) D'Onofrio, of Tacoma, Washington. Sisters, Marge Sorlie, Seattle, Washington and Clarice (Gregory) Miner of Tulalip, Washington.

David loved his grandchildren Ava and Katelyn Sorlie, Evan and Mackenzie Easter, Atomu "Mochi" Morehouse, Milana Flores and Vincent D'Onofrio. He always made time to teach, play games, make bottle rockets and do art projects with the grandchildren.

Uncles Erling Selle, of Camarillo, California, John (Karen) Selle of Camino Island, Washington. Niece Erica Dawn (Chad) Larsen, Nephew Douglas Miner (Jeff Tozzer).

David had many close cousins and friends.

In keeping with David's wishes there will be no funeral or memorial service.

We will always carry David's memory in our hearts.
