The Ellerbe family mourns the loss of Ronald William
Ellerbe, born July 29, 1938 and deceased October 2, 2019. Beloved husband,
father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, trumpet player, Air Force
veteran and professional, chemical engineer working in the pulp and paper
industry for many years, he retired to Hoover, Alabama with his wife Brenda. He
was proud of writing the Ellerbe Family History and having it published.
Ron was a difficult man to know. He was quiet, introverted, ambitious, highly intelligent and temperamental. His later years were spent gardening a spectacular variety of vegetables every year, watching the news, dominating the remote control, mastering creole cooking, making tamales and the perfect grilled steak. He was happy to have the last 20 years of his life with Brenda in their quiet, peaceful home with a screened porch and although their personalities were polar opposites, they balanced each other well. Ron devoted the final years of his life to his wife’s care before she passed last year. Ron is preceded in death by his parents Dovie Dora Ellerbe and Truman Audley Ellerbe, first wife Brenda Kay Ellerbe, and second wife Brenda Sue Ellerbe. He is survived by his brother Donald Ellerbe, children Celeste Kay Ellerbe, William Randolph Truman (Bill) Ellerbe, Stephanie Ellerbe Salazar, 5 grand children Rachel Bartelsmeyer, Carina Ellerbe, Cash Ellerbe, Dakota Woods, and Marie Woods and 1 great grandchild, Olivia Bartelsmeyer. A memorial service will be held at home on Saturday evening October 12, 2019
