Joel R. Gomez, born on July 13,1942 passed away on July 16, 2020 -3 days after
his birthday.
Joel was born in Jalostotitlán, Jalisco, México and later resided in San Bernardino,
CA. He enlisted in the US Army in 1966 during the Vietnam War, was discharged
honorably in 1968, and served in the Reserves for an additional two years.
He worked as a master cement mason for many years. He enjoyed singing with
Karaoke and with mariachi. He loved spending time with family and friends. He
had lots of friends.
Joel is predeceased by his parents, Maria de Jesus Gomez and Casimiro Gomez.
He is predeceased by his siblings, Angela Gomez (San Bernardino), Isabel Reynoso
(Sacramento), Isaias Gomez (Colton), Guadalupe Gomez (Jalostotitlán) and Jesus
Gomez (El Segundo).
He is survived by his sister, Madre Sor. Alfonsina Gomez (Guadalajara, Jalisco) and
Arthur Gomez (Colton), sisters-in-law Jessie Gomez and Luz Gomez, many nieces
and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins, compadres and friends.
Full Military Honors will be provided at Riverside National Cemetery on Friday,
August 7, 2020 at 11:00am with presentation of the American flag flown at the
California State Capitol and benediction by Father Miguel Ceja.
