William L. Martin

May 3rd, 1933 - June 15th, 2024

William L. Martin (Bill) was born May 3, 1933 in Los Angeles CA and passed away peacefully
at home on June 15, 2024. Bill is survived by his wife Silver, son, Brad Martin, daughter, Pam
Pancoast, and stepson Larry Prosor, brother Dick Martin and his sister Susie McIntyre. He
has 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Bill was a plasterer by trade and served in the U.S. Army from February 1953 to February
1956. Upon returning from the Army, he and his brother Dick worked with their father and
uncle to grow Martin Bros. Plastering Company into one of the most successful plastering
and fireproofing companies in the Los Angeles area. Later adding Marcowall, Inc. for
drywall services. Bill served on the boards of the Plastering and Labor unions for many
years and was a pioneer in his field.
Bill lived a full life. After divorcing his first wife, Betty, he married Silver in 1972. Not only
were they dog lovers, they owned horses and were long standing members of The Empty
Saddle Club, riding with the Long Beach Mounted Police in many parades over the years.
They traveled to numerous countries, vacationed on houseboats and motorhomed across
the US.
Bill was a licensed pilot and flying his plane was often the highlight of his afternoon. He
loved to snow ski, water ski, play tennis, golf, ride horses and read. He also loved to dance,
often being the first out to the dance floor with his wife Silver.
Bill will be missed, leaving behind many fond memories. He truly lived a life to be
celebrated.
