 Alvinia Wilmuth
December 8th, 1936 - April 18th, 2025

In Loving Memory of Alvinia Wilmuth

Alvinia Wilmuth, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully entered her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Good Friday morning, April 18th, at the age of 88. Born on December 8th, 1936, in Quincy, Illinois, she was the beloved first daughter of Alvin and Clytie Calhoun.

Alvinia's early years were filled with laughter and joy as she played with her sisters and cousins in the park where the historic Lincoln-Douglas Debate took place along the banks of the Mississippi River. At the tender age of 10, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior during a Camp Meeting, a decision that would guide her throughout her life. Her love for movies began in childhood, and she became a devoted movie buff, always eager to catch the latest films and relishing the classics throughout her life.

After moving to California in 1952 for her mother's health, Alvinia graduated midterm from San Bernardino High School in 1953. She began her professional journey at Norton Air Force Base, where she excelled as a clerk-steno, eventually serving as secretary to Army Major Gerald King. It was during this time that she met her future husband, James “Jim” Wilmuth, on a blind date in 1956. They married in 1957, embarking on a beautiful journey together that would last 68 years.

As a devoted wife and mother, Alvinia and Jim raised their three children—Jayne, Bob, and Brenda—in a home filled with love and community spirit. She was actively involved in her children's lives, serving as a room mother, Girl Scout Leader, and Den Mother for Boy Scout Cub Pack 39, among many other roles. The family enjoyed a rural life in East Highland, where Alvinia's love for animals flourished, caring for numerous dogs and welcoming wildlife into their yard.

Alvinia's passions extended beyond family; she was an avid bowler, proudly part of the “Fearsome Foursome,” and enjoyed many years with her neighborhood Bunco club, affectionately known as “the Broads.” Her love for fishing brought her joy, especially during family trips to Big Bear, where she created lasting memories with her loved ones.

In her professional life, Alvinia returned to secretarial work, contributing her skills to various organizations, including the San Bernardino County Road Department and the Sheriff's Department. Her dedication to service was evident in her involvement with the Ladies’ Auxiliary to the San Bernardino City Fire Department, where she supported local Marines heading to Vietnam, earning a heartfelt letter of thanks from President Richard Nixon.

Alvinia was also known for her culinary talents, delighting family and friends with her famous chili, cakes, and pies, particularly her beloved German chocolate cake. Her love for dancing brought her joy in the vibrant nightlife of San Bernardino during the 70s, where she enjoyed dancing until the early hours.
As a grandmother, Alvinia embraced her role with warmth and enthusiasm, becoming a chief babysitter and a loving presence in the lives of her grandchildren. She cherished family vacations to San Diego, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and many other beautiful destinations, creating a tapestry of memories that will be treasured forever.

Alvinia was preceded in death by her son Robert “Bob” W. Wilmuth, parents Alvin E. and Clytie J. Calhoun, brothers Alvin L. Calhoun (Mabel), Donald E. Calhoun (Bonnie), and sister C. Aleene Terry.

She is survived by her devoted husband, James Wilmuth; sisters Alice Stinson (Ed) and Arletta McKee (Michael), daughters Jayne (Keith) and Brenda (Michael); grandson Jacob Zylman; granddaughters Kelly O’Grady (Sean), Roxie Barnett, and Cheyenne Barnett; great-grandchildren Riley and Connor O’Grady, and Cali Rose and Beaux Barnett; and many nieces and nephews.

Alvinia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a devoted wife. Her spirit, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Alvinia's life will be held at Hermosa Cemetery Chapel on Friday, May 16th, at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Riverside National Cemetery.

In Loving Memory of Lee Elias Rodriguez

(aka: Our Pop & Papa)
Born March 7, 1948 - Passed Away March 30, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad, and Papa, Lee Rodriguez, who left us too soon on Sunday, March 30, 2025. He was a loyal, loving, and devoted husband to his wife Terre, father to his two children, David and Leigh, and son-in-law Aaron, and Papa to Jillian, Cole, and Delaney. He had an abundantly generous soul — a friend to all who knew him. His kindness and warmth touched the lives of so many, and his absence will be felt deeply by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Lee Rodriguez was born in Los Angeles, California. Growing up, he became known for his generous nature, his ability to make everyone feel welcome, his impeccable dance skills, and his amazing sense of style. He quickly fell in love with our mom, Terre, in the 8th grade, and they knew their love was eternal. They married on June 27, 1966. When our dad turned 18, he became a proud and honorable Vietnam War U.S. Army soldier. He served his country with distinction, dedication, and courage. His time in the U.S. Army was marked by the same values that defined his entire life: service, sacrifice, and a deep sense of duty. Those who knew him understood the strength and resilience he carried from those years. His patriotism and commitment to his country remained an important part of who he was, and his service is a lasting testament to his character and love for his fellow Americans and our great country.

A man of great character, our dad was loved by all who knew him. He had a heart of gold and never hesitated to offer a helping hand or a kind word to those in need. If you needed a helping hand, he would say, “Here, I have two.” His infectious smile and warm greeting could light up any room, and his presence was a constant source of comfort and joy to everyone around him — especially his adoring family.

To celebrate our dad’s life is to celebrate a man whose spirit shone through in everything he did. He believed in living with purpose, in the importance of kindness, and in the power of making others feel valued. Whether it was a small, everyday gesture or a larger act of generosity, he always found a way to give — not just material things, but his time, his attention, and his unwavering support. He was someone who truly made the world a better place just by being in it. His laughter, his stories, his wisdom, and the love he gave so freely will remain in the hearts of all who loved him. He was a dad and grandpa to many — he always loved those titles.

In addition to his family, our dad was cherished by countless friends. He had a brilliant and entrepreneurial mind and possessed an innate ability to solve problems with creativity and insight, often finding solutions others would overlook. His intellectual curiosity was boundless. He was a true “people person.” In his retirement, he volunteered his time for 25 years at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center and loved being a part of the PVHMC family. He believed in the goodness of people and was always ready to lend a hand to others. His generosity knew no bounds, and his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.

He was most proud to be a dad and a Papa. He lived to make them happy and would beam with pride at all their accomplishments. They always knew how much they were loved, and we take comfort knowing he knew how much he was loved in return. He gave them the world and demonstrated what unconditional love not only looked like, but felt like. They always knew he was there to guide, teach, and support them. Although it was too short, they cherish and thank God for every moment they were given. He was truly one in a million. He never let a moment go by without saying, “I love you,” and it was always followed by, “I love you more.”

Our beautiful dad is survived by his adoring and devoted wife of 57 years, Terre; his son, David Lee Rodriguez; his daughter, Leigh Cornell, and her husband, Aaron Cornell; along with his grandchildren, Jillian Cornell (20), Cole Rodriguez (19), and Delaney Cornell (19). While we deeply mourn his loss, we will carry his legacy and his light with us for our remaining days.

A funeral service to celebrate a life of warmth and love will be held at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, San Dimas, CA on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Auxiliary Sick Baby Fund.

Though he is no longer with us, we can still hear him in our minds, hearts and his spirit will remain with us forever.

               We love you more Papa!

When I go,
don’t learn to live without me,
just learn to live with my love,
in a different way.
And if you need to see me,
close your eyes,
or look in your shadow,
when the sun shines,
I’m there.
Sit with me in the quiet and you will know,
that I did not leave.
There is no leaving when a soul is blended with another.
When I go,
don’t learn to live without me,
just learn to look for me in the moments.
I will be there.

Christopher Michael Rhodes

Christopher 'Chris' Michael Rhodes, 47, passed away on February 13, 2025, in Temecula, California.

Born on October 23, 1977, in Simi Valley, California, Chris moved to Hemet, California when he was only six months old.

After graduating from Hemet High School in 1996, Chris pursued a distinguished academic path. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Political Science before earning his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. His dedication to the legal profession spanned over two decades as a practicing attorney.

Beyond his career, Chris had a deep passion for animals. He frequently transported and fostered shelter dogs, and was involved in a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program for local feral cats. He spent many nights bottle feeding newborn kittens, providing them with care and compassion. His beloved dog, Keiko, was a cherished companion.

He also leaves behind his ‘Brother From Another Mother’, Efrain Vargas (Shannon) and the entire Vargas Family, as well as countless other friends whom he also considered family.

Chris was well known for his lightning-fast wit and hilarious banter. He could turn any topic into a joke. If you were sad, he would come up with a way to cheer you up. He was well known for editing pictures of family and friends and placing their faces on other people's bodies, creating quite the hilarious scenario. He especially loved using his editing skills to tease his beloved nephews. Chris was one of the most generous people you could ever meet, whether it would be helping his fellow attorneys with the most difficult of cases, or helping his nephews with their homework. Chris was also a very talented guitarist. Not only could he play songs after hearing them only one time, he could also teach others to play the guitar. He loved sharing his skills and talents with others. Chris loved sports and was an avid University of Southern California (USC) Trojans fan. Fight On!

A celebration of Chris's life will be held in the near future. An announcement will be posted on Chris's Facebook page with the details as soon as they become available.

Mary Lou Wheeldon Travis

September 8th, 1937 - February 10th, 2025

The Lord graciously called Mary Lou Wheeldon Travis home with open arms the tenth day of February 2025. She blessed us for 87 years as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, cousin, aunt, friend, grandmother, GG, coach, cook, teacher, driving instructor, care taker and Matriarch. From Stuart Iowa to the beach in California and everywhere between she adored her family and friends praying for their success and good fortune. You could find her shifting from Calvary Church to the football field and the Horse Track to the Golf course, the biggest sports fan took her final sleep after Super Bowl 59. Her country roots kept her humble with deep fried everything with gravy listening to Garth and Celine and watching the Duke. A heart that big couldn't fit in a frame that small any longer. She is survived by her 4 sons Jim, Kevin, Jeff and Keil who have surrounded her with admiration and laughter and grandkids from Alaska to Texas. 4 generations after her will continue living her legacy to continue to “Be a good person and know the lord”. She is now embraced by her father, siblings, friends and grand daughter that have gone before her to let her love be limitless.

Rickey Lee Compton
March 26, 1963 - January 17, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Rickey Lee Compton, a beloved brother, son, father and friend to so many, got his wings on January 17, 2025, after a lengthy and courageous battle with heart disease.

Rick was born at home in Ohio to Wesley and Janice Compton on March 26, 1963. He moved to California as a young teenager, where he was raised by his father Wes and his stepmom Cleo, the woman he always knew as his mother. He spent the better part of the last 30 years in the Lake Elsinore area where he had many lifelong friends.

An avid learner of a wide variety of trades, Rick excelled as a mechanic, auto painter, home builder, welder, heavy equipment operator, and truck driver. He loved solving problems related to his trades, and was the person who always had the answer to any problem that arose.

Rick devoted the same passion and focus to his hobbies as he did to his trades. Working at a golf course as a teenager, he developed a love for the sport, was mentored by Earl Woods, Tiger’s father, and soon become a much improved golfer. Later in life, Rick’s love turned to restoring old cars and motorcycles. He found the most joy when riding his Harley Davidson.

Rick was preceded in death by his birth mother Janice and older sister Susie. He is survived by his father Wes, step-mother Cleo, baby sister Tonya, brother Wesley Jr., sisters Anne-Marie and Robin, twin adult sons Wesley and Tommy, younger son Noah, and so many brothers in friendship.

You could always count on Rick to be there when help was needed. He was a loyal and reliable friend to so many. Rick’s passing leaves an enormous hole in the hearts of the many people he touched. He will be deeply and forever missed.

A memorial to celebrate Rick’s life will be announced at a later date. As per his wishes, Rick will be laid to rest next to his loving dog, Panzer, in Arizona.

Brian Richard Montoya was born on July 23, 1989 in San Bernardino, CA. In his short time on Earth, he was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, godson, and friend. He graduated from Rialto High School in 2007. His soul rejoined the spiritual realm on December 29, 2024.
