Louis J. Serafin

January 2, 1950 - November 18, 2017

Great Grandpas don’t go gray, they turn chrome. As did Louis J. Serafin, who left our world November 18, 2017, at the age of 67. Lou was a beloved and proud father and grandfather. He loved Harley motorcycles, golf, iced tea, crossword puzzles, Budweiser, frozen yogurt, libraries, and his family. Not necessarily in that order. He hated mayonnaise and rules. Not necessarily in that order. He was always quick with a random fact of knowledge that he gained somewhere, always had a book in hand in case there was an extra moment to get some reading in, and always had an extra napkin in his pocket if you needed it. He traveled the country, and the world, and lived his 67 years to the fullest. He was a happy-go-lucky man who will be deeply missed by many. Loved ones that will miss Lou until they meet again are his daughter and son in-law Jessica Ortiz and Oliver Ortiz; his son and daughter in-law Adam Serafin and Erin Serafin; his grandchildren, Maizie Ortiz, Zoey Serafin, and Emmie Ortiz; and his ex wife, and loving friend, Patti Fourace Serafin.

David Charles Jones

December 5, 1945 - November 7, 2017

David Charles Jones was born on December 5th,1945 in Flandru South Dakota and lived out the majority of his life in Colorado Springs CO. David leaves behind his daughter Autem and his son Forest as well as his grandchildren; Dominik, Miya, Cameron, and Ellie. He also leaves behind his four siblings; Barbara, Gordon, Carol, and William(bill) as well as many other people and extended family members that cared for him deeply. David was the second youngest child born to Ethel and Evan Jones whom have also passed on. Let us continue to remember the David who had in some way touched all of our lives and had an abundance of love to give.

David was many things, a friend to many, a father, a grandfather to myself, a fighter, and a lover. He was a big man with an even bigger heart and an extraordinary mind. In his younger years David lived a fast life, he continued to do so as he aged and did so with a great love for the untamed lifestyle he chose, it seemed as though his wild heart truly never could be tamed. He loved his Harley Davidson's, the blues, and his Ray Ban sunglasses until his last day! He was a quirky man with a hard exterior and a kind soul, but above all else he was a man with a heart of gold. My siblings and I will forever remember the time he spent with us, the laughs we shared, the stories he told, and the love he gave. My grandfather was a man who attracted many things and people, trouble being one of them, but love being another. All throughout his life he had an abundance of love to give and he left behind many great stories of this love and the women he cherished and shared time with. The long life that he leaves behind is nothing short of hardships, strength, and greatness. My mother, Autem, remembers her dad as a man who did his very best for his family and tells the stories of his selflessness in her childhood and the time they spent that she will forever cherish and hold dear to her heart.

Just as we all are, my grandfather was a man with demons. These shadows followed him throughout his life in the form of addiction and would ultimately lead to his death. November 7th, 2017 David Jones died peacefully in his home in San Bernardino CA where he resided near his daughter, my siblings, and myself. My grandfather is and will forever be deeply missed, however i pray we can all try and remember that he is finally free from the captivity of addiction that he struggled with throughout the entirety of his life.

“Don’t think of him as gone away his journey’s just begun, life holds so many facets this earth is only one. Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years… And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched, for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.”

Whether it was serving her community at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles as a Respiratory Therapist or writing award winning poetry. That drive also moved her to become a self-taught guitarist and pianist. Her music of choice was jazz, it spoke to her in ways other types of music did not.
how Jessye was a proud grandma. Her heart belonged to her granddaughter. On the day Elisabeth was born Jessye was the first person that made her smile, and Elisabeth made Jessye smile every day since.
